Africa

20 years ago, Elsewedy Electric embarked on a mission to expand in Africa. Today the majority of our industrial activities are in Africa, with 24 production facilities and a scale of projects that exceeds USD 4 Billion.

Unlike many global players, we are closer to African business needs not only geographically but mainly in values and culture.

As Africa opens its arms to various sector investments, Elsewedy Electric collaborates with various entities to support carrying on with its development plan. We see development in Africa as a priority, and for that we always challenge priorities from a sustainable development angle, then we challenge the Africa specifics to implement those priorities, especially structuring finance, logistics and regulatory frameworks.

Our capabilities and years of experience in developing infrastructure projects is a unique advantage that puts us ahead of most competition. We have custom made solutions and contractors who have the will and ability to spend more time on ground working closer to customers to answer their needs.

Our presence extends geographically all across Africa, from Ghana, where we have been executing multiple turnkey street lighting projects, substations & overhead lines to DRC, where we worked on the construction project for the high-voltage distribution substation in Kasumbalesa 220kv. In Angola we have established fast track power plants to overcome urgent needs, while in Tanzania we are doubling the country’s electricity production with Julius Nyerere hydropower project. The project generates 2,115 megawatts of electric power in a country that has less than 1,600 megawatts today, serving approximately 60 million Tanzanian citizens.
