Elsewedy Electric PSP Marks Major Progress on Rabigh Power Plant

Elsewedy Electric PSP continues to mark steady execution on the 1,200 MW Rabigh Power Plant Project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, achieving approximately 92% overall completion as it moves closer to commercial operation.

Major construction milestones have been completed across key phases of the facility. The installation of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) Units 41, 42, and 43 is now 100% complete, leaving all three units positioned for chemical cleaning ahead of plant commissioning. Concurrently, marine works have reached 73% progress, with teams focusing on offshore pipeline installation, dredging, and strategic tower lifting operations in anticipation of the upcoming flooding milestone.

Mechanical and electrical installations are advancing heavily across the site’s fluid and water treatment areas. Work is progressing across the Raw Water, Auxiliary Cooling, Stop Logs, and Circulating Water pumping systems alongside ongoing GRP installations. On the power generation side, Steam Turbine installation continues to advance, backed by the near completion of critical piping networks, including the High-Pressure (HP) Steam, Hot Reheat, Cold Reheat, Auxiliary Steam, and Low-Pressure Steam systems. Notably overall Balance of Plant (BOP) and Combined Cycle (CC) piping works have reached approximately 87% completion, with major systems like the Lube Oil, Hydraulic Oil, and Generator Seal Oil systems nearing readiness for flushing.

Testing, loop checking, and commissioning activities are expanding in parallel across the Common Control, HRSG Electrical, and Water Treatment buildings to ensure complete system readiness. Furthermore, AC-31 testing and commissioning for Unit 40 is actively underway, with High Voltage (HV) testing in progress ahead of a targeted system back-energization scheduled for the upcoming week.

These achievements reflect the robust collaboration of all project stakeholders and reinforce the Rabigh Power Plant’s strategic value in anchoring the Kingdom’s rapidly growing energy sector.
