From Greece’s first BESS CFD auction to energizing our first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Europe
Elsewedy Electric successfully energized its 50MW/100MWh BESS project in Greece, marking a major milestone in our renewable energy development and investment journey.
Developed by Elsewedy Energy and EPC implemented by Elsewedy Electric PSP and BMS, the project is our first BESS project in Europe, awarded through Greece’s first competitive CFD auction for standalone energy storage. The project reached financial close in early 2025.
Beyond the project itself, BESS projects are widely spread all over the world in regions with high renewable energy penetration to support grid stability, providing energy arbitrage and balancing ancillary services.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our teams and partners across Egypt and Greece, and strengthens Elsewedy Electric’s position in Europe’s growing clean energy market.
