Elsewedy Electric Executes Its Third Solar PV Project in Burkina Faso: 30 MWp Matourkou Plant with 17 MWh BESS
Elsewedy Electric has expanded its renewable energy portfolio in West Africa with the execution of its third solar project in Burkina Faso, the 30 MWpMatourkou Solar PV Plant, featuring a 17 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Delivered through Elsewedy Electric T&D and led by the company's Africa Sales team, the project is valued at approximately $39.9 million and covers full EPC execution, along with two years of operation and maintenance.
Co-funded by KfW Development Bank and SONABEL, the Matourkou plant builds on Elsewedy Electric's successful delivery of the Zano and Yeleen solar PV plants in the country. By combining solar generation with battery storage, the new plant will enhance grid stability and increase access to clean energy across Burkina Faso.
The project reflects Elsewedy Electric's growing role as a trusted partner in Africa's energy transition, and its ability to deliver integrated renewable energy solutions, from engineering and construction through to operation, that support long-term development across the continent.
