ISKRAEMECO SECURES CROATIAN SMART METER TENDER WITH ADVANCED MULTI-COMMUNICATION CAPABILITY

Apr-2024

Leveraging our extensive experience and ongoing market analysis, coupled with partner feedback, we ensure that Iskraemeco's smart meters are continually enhanced to meet customer needs, even in the most demanding projects.

The IE.5 meters are the third generation of smart metering in Iskraemeco, has been instrumental in this achievement, showcasing significant improvements based on continuous market observation and partner's input.

In the Croatian tender, which entails the rollout of over 200,000 Iskraemeco meters over an 18-month period, the IE.5 meter's multi-communication support, including LTE and G3-PLC technologies within a single unit, was a key differentiator. This technology is enhanced by the Iskraemeco data concentrator AC750, which expertly manages network connectivity and monitoring connected devices. The AC750 performs essential functions such as collecting data from meters, storing it, and ensuring its delivery to the head-end system. With the introduction of new firmware functionalities and improvements in G3-PLC, communication with the meters has become even more reliable.

The dual-communication feature provided the utility with the flexibility to select the most appropriate communication channel for their infrastructure needs and to switch between them as required, facilitating a more efficient data transmission process.

The LTE and G3 PLC technologies are selected by utility based on its grid requirements, including coverage, data rate needs, and existing infrastructure. LTE is utilized for its high data rates in areas with cellular coverage, while G3-PLC is leveraged in regions where power lines offer a more consistent communication channel.

A notable improvement of the IE.5 meter is its G3-PLC communication, which monitors the success rate of transmissions. The communication protocol in our meters is initially configured to a default setting – point-to-point communication but can be adjusted to another communication if needed. Special attention has been given to the G3-PLC functionality: once activated, the meters begin to monitor the efficacy of the communication channel. If any disruptions are detected, the system automatically reverts to the LTE channel to maintain a consistent data transmission. This ensures a seamless flow of information and enhances the reliability of data collection.

This feature not only provides a more robust communication channel, but also reduces the need for additional infrastructure, thereby optimizing capital and operational costs.

With deployment of our smart meters with multi communication capabilities, utilities adopt a system that offers enhanced flexibility, improved robustness, and increased frequency of data transmission.

Iskraemeco by ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC is the preferred partner for those seeking to enhance their metering infrastructure with a dependable and forward-looking solution.

ASU WINS TOP HONORS AT UK FORMULA STUDENT COMPETITION WITH SUPPORT FROM ELSEWEDY CABLES

Sep-2023

For the past 25 years, the UK Formula Student competition has challenged student teams to produce a working prototype of a single-seat race car for autocross or sprint racing, with a combination of formal presentations and on-track dynamic events used to test their engineering skills.

The Ain Shams University racing team “ASU” participated in the competition and was ranked the “Concept Class Overall Winner” for the year 2023, which was organized by the “Institution of Mechanical Engineers”, securing the 1st place trophy and the best team in the total overall score for the design, manufacturing, cost of manufacture and marketing plan development, outperforming all competing universities, which amounted to 37 international universities.

Elsewedy Cables is so proud to be a vital part of this great success by providing their Automotive wires and cables for ASU’s racing car in the competition. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, confirmed that the students have outperformed their competitors, which assures the superior practical ability they acquired resulting from receiving the highest level of education that copes with the requirements of the times and the labor market and what the current global stage of

innovation requires. The team presented a complete marketing plan for a program and a system to transform normal cars into self-driving cars.

The competition was divided into two sections. The 1st section was for the category of cars with a driver, for both internal combustion engines and electric motors, in which the team was ranked 20th in the overall standings globally, which is considered the highest position achieved by a team from Africa and the Middle East, while the 2nd section was for self-driving cars, and because of how challenging this category is, only 20 teams worldwide participate, in which the ASU team was ranked 5th in the overall standings of this category globally.

It is noteworthy that the Ain Shams Engineering Racing Team “ASU” is a student organization with a primary goal of manufacturing cars in Egypt. The team was able to participate in many competitions in previous years and achieve great achievements such as the Formula Student 2018 competition in England, and the Shell Eco-Marathon in Malaysia.

ISKRAEMECO'S EMOBILITY SOLUTIONS TO COMPETENTLY REDUCE ENERGY DEMAND AND CO2 EMISSIONS WORLDWIDE

Jun-2023

Iskraemeco, a subsidiary of ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC, is said to be launching a new business unit dedicated to exploring the eMobility ecosystem and delivering comprehensive solutions for all eMobility applications. Whilst the concept of eMobility is often associated with electric vehicles and recharge stations, the reality is much more complex than initially thought.

In addition to legislation, incentives to purchase electric vehicles and charging equipment are now available in several European countries. This is encouraging faster adoption of environmentally friendly cars, as electric vehicles will become increasingly prevalent in the second-hand car market. Such a trend is expected to continue and accelerate, with a significant share of new car sales expected to be composed of electric vehicles by 2031.

However, the ability of electricity networks to handle the expanding demand for power could be impacted by the shift from internal combustion engines (i.e., fuel-powered automobiles) to electrically driven vehicles. Iskraemeco made the decision to step in and offer eMobility solutions and services with real value as a result. To fit the pieces of the eMobility puzzle together and provide this real value, Iskraemeco recently acquired GL Charge, a Slovenian startup company specializing in eMobility solutions and services. Iskraemeco is able to answer both the needs of consumers and the difficulties that energy providers will soon encounter by partnering with GL Charge.

Aligning with Iskraemeco’s vision for environmental sustainability, it further promotes the adoption of green transportation. The company is also committed to providing innovative solutions that will support the transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to plug-in electric vehicles and hybrids (PHEV) from 2030 onwards. Iskraemeco is confident that this initiative will create an efficient and streamlined eMobility ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders involved.

The eMobility portfolio comprises electric charging stations configured to be used in both public and private communities. A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card is used to enable the charging process, and the energy consumed is assigned and invoiced through the management systems of the community such as the Human Resources (HR) system and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Moreover, Iskraemeco’s smart metering expertise facilitates dynamic load control between the charging station and the smart meter through the X1 port, preventing the home energy network overloading. This is the first step of integration with energy providers.

Iskraemeco and GL Charge entered the market to improve eMobility’s use and adaptability while also keeping the infrastructure and electrical grid in the best possible condition. Matevž Grabar, CEO of GL Charge believes in significantly expanding their presence onto the global stage in terms of eMobility and contributes to the development of eMobility markets and grid stability for years to come.
