Elsewedy Electric for Electrical Products has signed a contract with HITACHI to supply power transformers for a 250 MW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez. An alliance of Italian, French, and Chilean companies, led by Danish turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S, is in charge of the project and its financing.   

The projected investment for the project amounts to approximately EUR 228 million. Construction and connection of the wind farm are expected to be completed within a span of 35 months, with an estimated annual generation of 840 GWh. 

Furthermore, the facility is anticipated to save nearly 175,000 tons of oil equivalent annually. This substantial project is supported by the Egyptian government, as well as prominent entities such as the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and development banks from Germany and France.
