Speeding Towards Success: Awarding of the High-Speed Rail (Green Line) MEP Package No.3 in Egypt

Kamel El Wazir, Ministry of Transportation and the National Authority of Tunnels has awarded the High-Speed Rail Green Line project to a joint venture comprising The Arab Contractors of Egypt, Elsewedy Electric Power Systems Projects (PSP), and Orascom. The project will utilize Siemens electric trains to connect major cities in Egypt through a network of 21 stations.

Elsewedy Electric PSP, a key player in the joint venture, is tasked with the construction and testing of seven stations along the route: New Capital, Wadi El Natroun, Giza, Sidi Abdel Rahman, El Dabaa, Ras El Hekma, and Marsa Matrouh.

The high-speed rail route spans from Ain Sokhna to October Gardens, branching south to Al-Ayat to link with a second line, and north to Alexandria, Alamein, and Marsa Matrouh. Covering approximately 675 km and featuring 21 stations (13 high-speed train stations and 8 regional stations), the project is slated for completion within 36 months. The design speed is set at 250 km/h, with electric express trains operating at 230 km/h, regional electric trains at 160 km/h, and electric freight tractors at 120 km/h.

The awarding of this prestigious project marks a significant milestone for the joint venture, opening doors to new growth opportunities and showcasing their expertise as construction and service providers in the mobility sector.

Together, they are dedicated to #ConnectEgypt through this transformative high-speed rail project.
